Blaise Pascal, French Philosopher and Mathematician was a prominent French mathematician, physicist, writer and inventor. He is widely considered to be the most influential person in the history of mathematics. He invented the decimal number system, which would eventually form the basis for modern number systems. His work found its way into physics, where it continues to impact our lives today; he is also credited as having written what is now an accepted summary of mechanics. Today his work has been incorporated in many fields including computer science and electrical engineering. As a result his work has become so valuable that he had his name attached to more than 200 inventions alone. Blaise Pascal was born on October 24th 1712 in Arles (France). His father owned land near Arles and he grew up here being surrounded by farmers and peasants who were very interested

IN HIS EARLY LIFE BLAISE PASCAL STARTED studying the sciences and math with great enthusiasm. At the age of 12 he attempted to build a mechanical windmill; several years later he completed this project. Later on in his life PASCAL would invent a very advanced clockwork calculator that controlled various scientific functions like motion, angle, velocity, equilibrium, acceleration and others. Following his efforts in the sciences, PASCAL turned to Philosophy; he spent much of his time reading ancient philosophy and this led to him developing a practical understanding of Christianity. His new philosophical beliefs did not make him very popular with his peers; however his ideas were popular with some religious leaders.
At the age of 25 BLAISE PASCAL (At the young age of 18 he had already made significant mathematical discoveries) established himself as an accomplished scientist, mathematician and philosopher. He achieved this by publishing his famous “notes on probability” in 1763. This was a compilation of Pascal’s thoughts about probability and variables, which had been a mere thought-experiment in his mind until that point; however it became very innovative, as it laid out a new basis for all future probability calculations. This was the first of a series of three important works that Pascal had published in his lifetime: the second was an essay on the principles of art and the third was a book on Christian faith. This book on faith would become very well known in history, but only several years after Pascal’s death; it received a great deal of criticism for its rather irrational tone and for its argumentation and lack of references to any kind of scientific analysis.
