I am often asked, who is the queen of England? In a country filled with royals, this seems like an obvious question. However, there is no queen because the monarchy was abolished over 300 years ago. That leaves an entirely new question: who is the queen of England? The answer is certainly not the queen of England but in fact, as each and every other country has a queen or king, so does England. The queen of England is the queen of Great Britain, Ireland and Walesthe title given to the consort or wife of the monarch in England, Scotland and Wales. The queen of England is a very peculiar position. Unlike other queens, she does not have any official duties, powers or responsibilities. So why is she there? And why do we call our wives queens?
