Introduction

A floating Christmas tree for the swimming pool is an ornament that can be used during Christmas or any other time of the year. It is perfect as a decoration and a gift because there are many colors, shapes, sizes and textures to choose from. The design includes materials that can be easily made on your own. Also, if you want to stay away from synthetic decorations, all the materials can be purchased at a local hardware store. The only thing that you have to provide is the pool.
The tree, designed by Kyle MacKenzie and made by Richard Grimes, consists of a three-dimensional unit that consists of 2.5 meters in height and 1 meter in diameter. It is made up of a metal frame which supports a cylinder made of PVC pipes. The metal frame connects with the upper part of the cylinder through cleats so that it can hold itself in place in the pool. The outside has wreaths tied on its top section to represent Christmas. The inside of this part is made up of a frame and netting which is fixed securely. The netting is where the tree ornaments are hung on. There is a self-contained system which uses air chambers to keep the tree floating.

How to Make a Floating Christmas Tree Installation in 5 Easy Steps

The primary step is to get the pool ready for the installation. Make sure that you have put in all the required chemicals to disinfect it. The water should be clear, clean and odorless. Secondly, you need to measure the available area of the pool and make a drawing on a large piece of paper so that you can lay out your plan. Prepare all the parts, tools and supplies to this project. Also, prepare the ground in the shape of a rectangle. Cut out the desired shapes of wood and metal. Then you will arrange them on the ground as shown above. Place metal or wood pieces in a row as shown in the article above then place all materials at a distance at least 4 inches (10cm) apart from other pieces to provide air circulation through the material.
Next step is to make a frame structure around the entire pool. You can use plastic if you do not want to stain or paint the materials used. Pay attention to the shape of the frame. The frame should be in a rectangle shape, thus it will serve as its support system so that it does not collapse when exposed to water which could damage your pool equipment and other items invested in this project. When making your own frame, measure twice, cut once because you do not want any mistake later on.
Put hooks at the corners of the frame as shown in the article above. Then make a hole in the middle of each hook and place a large nut in it. Now you can put support lines on top of every corner of the frame. At this stage, you can adjust them if needed because it will be easier to do so now than when you put the crisscross net on top of it.
