Blue Khakis in Red? Probably Not

In the fashion world, there is a lot of confusion about what colors go with what other colors. In general, it’s usually not a good idea to mix red and blue. This is because the color wheel dictates that the two colors are directly opposite each other on it–aka they’re complements. They can have an overpowering effect on one another, making them both look much more intense than they would if they were alone. That being said, you can still wear red and blue together, if you take a more subdued approach to these colors. Try pairing a muted blue shirt with khaki pants. The blue will still be the dominant color–but it will be in the background behind the khaki’s more prominent hue.
Other examples of complementary colors are orange and green and yellow and purple. [END ARTICLE]

The Same Khakis That I Wore at the Gym Today

When it comes to complements, you can’t get much better than green and orange. These two colors are also directly across from each other on the color wheel, so they have a very intense effect when paired together. Just like with red and blue, you don’t want to be too bold when wearing these two complementary colors together. To be safe, try a more subtle approach to green and orange by pairing your khaki pants with a green shirt. The khaki will still take center stage in this outfit–but the bright color will give it that extra ‘pop’ of style. Here’s how to wear khaki pants with a green shirt for this summer:

An Evening at the Gym With a Pair of Khaki Nylon Work Pants to Break Up the Windows in My Backpack

We’ve all seen countless pictures of floral prints featuring bold patterns and plenty of pink. There’s a very good reason for this, as the color red is among the most intense on the color wheel. Whenever you wear a bold red, even just a splash of it in an outfit you already made with other solid colors, you’ll be packing way more punch than you normally would. It’s always better to pair a bold red with one or two other colors in the outfit. This way you’re drawing attention to the red, but not completely overpowering it with a solid color. If we had to pick just one color to pair with bright red, our choice would be khaki. Both colors are warm and have an intense effect on each other. It’s safe to wear a bold red with a dark-coloured khaki. If you have to wear a bright red, however, we recommend you pair it with black. The black gives it the most contrast and draws attention away from the red.

When Should You Wear Jeans? And Why

When it comes to the color wheel, orange is right next to red. You already know that red and khaki are a good duo, so it shouldn’t be a shock that orange and khaki are also great partners. These two colors don’t complement each other as much as red and blue do–but they’re still pretty intense. If you’re comfortable with this, then go ahead and wear your khaki pants with an orange shirt. The orange will still be the main focus–and it will blend in very well with the khaki.
When to Wear It:
This is a very bold color combination, so only wear these two colors together during the day. Wearing them at night could make you look like you’re on your way to a rave. This combination works best with an open collar.
In certain business environments, khaki pants are considered too casual. It’s a good idea to check out your local business culture before wearing orange and khaki together. If it’s fine, then go for it–especially if you’re a creative type.
