How to Make a Meatless Meatball Recipe
A meatball recipe that’s compassionate and easy to make — this versatile, delicious vegetarian dish served over brown rice is a must-try. Follow these steps to make all the vegan meatballs you’ll ever need, and whip up a batch of sauce too.
1. Prepare the meatball ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of vital wheat gluten and 1 tablespoon of vegan seasoning. Mix well, then add 2 cups of plain soy or rice milk and knead for about five minutes. The dough will become elastic-seeming as you knead it.
2. Form the meatballs: Separate the dough into portions and roll each portion into long tubes. Cut them into 1-inch pieces and, with your hands, shape them into balls.
3. Brown the meatballs: Heat up 1 teaspoon of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the balls to the skillet, and brown on all sides, about two minutes per side. Remove them from pan and set aside.
