A Story about a Fine and Ugly Harvard Law School Bash
Fictional student Reesee. (a harvard law student) was the very first person to be admitted into Harvard when they opened up their doors to everyone rather than just those with rich parents. She is a true african american woman and lived in poverty before attending Harvard Law School, giving her a unique perspective on the day to day discriminations that exist for underprivileged minorities in America. She grew up and received a scholarship to study at a small college but had to drop out and work when her father was diagnosed with cancer. She had been an excellent student at her high school and a star athlete. Because of this she did not want to be supported by her parents who, because they had been taken advantage of by others before, were extremely protective of their daughter and did not understand the importance of her going to college.
When Reesee attends Harvard Law School, she is a top student. One day, at the end of her third year in law school, she was feeling depressed about how much debt she had accumulated and the fact that she had no job prospects. Everything was going fine until a few days later when she got a call from her mother. She had found Reesee’s name on the list for a very prestigious job interview for the United States Attorney’s office. Her mother was celebrating and couldn’t believe that Reesee had been chosen to become an attorney of the United States. After a few minutes, her mother hung up the phone and started showing Reesee how to apply for federal law enforcement positions with government agencies, including FBI, DEA and ICE.

Fictionality & Fake News Have Become the Front-Line of the Fight Against Propaganda
Fake news is a thing that can affect our lives in so many ways. Recently the governments of the United States and other nations around the world have taken notice of this issue, with them developing policies and programs to tackle fake news. We may be living in a bubble, but now we are being told to open our eyes and look beyond what can be “proven” without actually studying it ourselves. Here at University of Alabama, we can’t afford to be blindsided by fake news. Fake news has become a serious issue in our society and we must do something about it. Let’s all learn from other nations so that fake news become something of the past! Unfortunately, we are not the only nation that has to deal with fake news in some capacity. China is a prime example of this problem and I believe that can be applied to our own country and even others around the world. If we can learn from China and get them to take fake news more seriously, then maybe one day our nation will be able to leave this terrible problem behind us.
Background:I was under the impression that fake news was just invented a few years ago by “some guy” named… Gary Gannon. The truth, however, is that fake news has been around as long as I can remember. Maybe not in the form of mostly fake website and Facebook accounts that people post to make fun of everyones favorite celebrity but certainly whenever my grandmother would make up a story about my deceased great-grandfather and how he was “murdered” by my grandfather. Fake news is not something new or unique to Facebook or Google, it has been with us for a very long time. When we talk about fake news nowadays, however, it is almost always referring to “fake news” websites and pages that were created to spread pro-Trump or anti-Hillary propaganda throughout the 2016 election cycle.
